Reverberations of love. A lament from a small room. The trumpet, furrowed cloud cover; the piano, a window opening. Objects left on the bedside table. We love once, then we pretend... Objects casting an unwanted light. Almost touching, it will almost do.

Situated on the edge of the ocean, on the edge of land, balanced in the sky. A small shelter, a stool to perch upon, facing west. A precarious structure made for a heart that’s falling apart by its own repair.

‘You know, it’s quite an undertaking to start loving somebody. You have to have energy, generosity, blindness… There is even a moment, right at the start, where you have to jump across an abyss: if you think about it you don’t do it’.

‘And so we too came where the rest had come,
To where each dreamed, each drew, the other home
From all distractions to the other’s breast,
Where each had found, each was, the wild bird’s nest.
For that we came, and knew that we must know
The thing we know of but we did not know.’
- FT Prince

A series of chandeliers left hanging in an empty house after moving out.
- Sitting for long enough to see in low light. Projections and shadows, finding perspective with old tools and graphite stained hands.
- Cut ribbons of stone porticos, bellowed into thread. The mist from late night conversations, ruins on the porch.
- Caves with crevices for windows, single perspectives and routine. Voids in the floor, levels rising and repeating. Escape stairs and signs of life.
- Listening to the distance and tapping the pedals to sustain being alone. There are queues of repetition from sunrise, a spotlight always.
- Watching old movies from rail cars and waiting rooms. Low lights to be put out, sleep to be had. Pushing the floor so hard to pile drive footings, escape.

From the series on heartbreak:
Anger. A megalith alongside the freeway. Windows waiting for the tap of feet, clicks of latches. Lights on. Cut hand on the bannister. Dormitories on repeat. Worn stone sundials, warmed by the sun, visited daily, alien at first in the rain. Curtains as hard as plaster. An opera’s facade waiting to be archived.
